How science fared in the Budget

Peter Griffin, at Sciblogs, has spared us the chore of sifting through the Budget to see what’s in it for science.

Peter is the founding manager of the Science Media Centre and co-founder of Sciblogs.

He reports (here) that Budget 2013 saw a net increase of around $50 million in science and innovation funding, according to Science and Innovation Minister Steven Joyce who tweeted the factoid in response to Sciblogger Siouxsie Wiles.

He says:

130 million of funding has been committed to boosting R&D efforts in companies and start-ups, $107m of which will come from the Government’s internationally focused growth package, with $23m re-prioritised from elsewhere in the science and innovation vote.

Check out Peter’s post for the details.
